Ferries to resume Hurricane Beryl transportation to the Grenadines

The Ministry of Urban Development, Energy, Seaports, Grenadines Affairs and Local Government has issued a notification to the general public advising that the Hurricane Beryl Transportation Initiative will continue up to to April 2, 2025.

This initiative is primarily for free transportation to the general public to transport relief items, including building materials to the Southern Grenadines, the ministry said in a release. It has advised that reservations for heavy cargo must be placed two days before departure by telephone or email; and persons are asked to remember that a boat pass is required upon entry for passengers and cargo on the three vessels. The boat pass can be obtained downstairs the Ferry Terminal Building, Kingstown; the Tobago Cays Marine Park Office in Union Island; the Canouan Revenue Office; and from John Roache in Mayreau.

The Bequia Express Company Ltd will operate two trips per week on Mondays and Wednesdays, for passengers and cargo, from February 3- 28; and one day per week on Wednesdays from March 3-31, 2025.

The ministry states further that departure will be at 10:00 a.m. with all cargo required to be on board by 9:30 a.m. The ferry will be available for loading in Kingstown from 7:30 a.m with a cargo cut off time of three minutes before departure.

Passenger will board 15 mins before departure.

Gem Star is currently not operational, however, the ministry said upon resumption, Gem Star will operate one day per week, on Fridays for passengers and cargo for the month of February and up to March 31, 2025. It will make one trip on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. An updated schedule for Gem Star will be communicated.

Jaden Sun will not be available for the entire month of February 2025. However, upon resumption, Jaden Sun will operate on Wednesdays and Fridays for passengers and light cargo, from March 3-31, 2025; and on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

Boarding time for passengers is 9:00 a.m. from Kingstown ,with a 4:00 p.m departure time from Union Island. The Ministry of Urban Development has pointed out that the initiative is for persons who have been affected as a result of the Hurricane.
