Dismissed Police Officer, and Mechanic freed of gun charge

A police officer, who was dismissed from the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) after being charged with two gun offences, was freed of the charges this week.

Zacroy John and Ishmael Isaacs appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate, Colin John on February 5, 2025 where a gun charge was dismissed against them.

Kay Bacchus-Baptiste, who represented John in the matter, argued that the prosecution, which was led by Renrick Cato, was confused and initially charged John and Isaacs under Section 185 of the Criminal Code for unlawfully threatening to discharge his firearm at Danielle Webb, and Section 19(1) of the Firearm Act that he had a pistol in his possession with intent to commit an offence.

She said John was then charged under section 19 (1) (a) that he “had in your possession one pistol with intent to commit an offence” on December 6, 2023 at Villa.

However these matters were withdrawn by the police.

“.. .the defendant contends that this charge is too vague and…[he] does not know which offence he is being charged with the intention to commit,” Bacchus said.
