Culture taking off in SVG says Minister
The Pan in the Streets initiative, currently being carried out by the Youlou Pan Movement has been praised by Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, Carlos James.
The first in the Pan in the Streets series was held in Troumaca last Saturday February, 1, 2025 and saw performances from Starlift, Symphonix and Epic Sounds steel orchestras.
On Sunday while speaking on the Issue at Hand Programme on WEFM, James described the initiative as, “really useful” adding that he was pleased to see so many people coming out.
“This is something that I’ve not seen for a very long time outside of the seasonal events and activities. Now, everyone is focused on social media in their homes and cable news and networks and Netflix. That social integration as a region and as a people and as a country and as communities, it’s something which I think we’re losing.”
He said that event is creating a mode of cultural transformation that is being seen in the country.
