Colin John is now Chief Magistrate
After being called to the Bar in England, Wales and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), being appointed Crown Counsel in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), then Assistant DPP, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner of Police, and later Senior Magistrate, Colin John has now added the title of Chief Magistrate to his list of accolades.
When John spoke with SEARCHLIGHT in August 2010 following his call to the Bar, he credited his success to hard work. After receiving correspondence about his new appointment on February, 3, 2025 his sentiment towards success has not changed.
“I honestly enjoy working hard. I think it’s necessary, and it’s really important to give a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay and though I have fun, I take all of my jobs very seriously,” he told SEARCHLIGHT in an interview two days after his appointment.
