Diamond area first to get Zipline

The Diamond Beach area is the area earmarked for St Vincent and the Grenadines’ first ever zip line.

So said Minister of Tourism, Carlos James, during his contribution to the 2025 Budget debate on Wednesday January 15, 2025.

The establishment of the zip line will be part of this country’s new thrust in adventure and wellness tourism.

The minister said work is in an advanced planning phase with a contractor and a private operator, who will facilitate the installation of the much anticipated zip line.

Minister James pointed out that this latest feature will add value to Destination SVG, and the country’s tourism product.

Also in the pipeline for 2025, are improvements to community tourism where tourists and locals will be able to get the maximum visiting experiences from local communities.

Additionally, visitors choosing St Vincent and the Grenadines as their wedding and honeymoon destination, will have a much easier time arranging for their visit as applications for marriage license will be available online, so couples will not have to spend extra time and money trying to get their marriage license.

Admitting to the challenges of the past, Minister James said “no previous government has ever experienced the many-folded challenges we have seen in the past few years”.

James pointed out that in the midst of all the challenges there is growth in the tourism sector and consistent growth in the economy.

“We are working in the interest of our people, improving the quality of life and living standard.”

Speaking directly to the Budget, Minister James said that the 2025 Budget is one that is “truly people centered, developmental focused and solidifies the gains of this administration.”

This year, the Ministry of Tourism also hopes to regulate vending at tourism sites, including on beaches and other coastal areas.
