Diamond mason faces theft and assault charges
A 36 year old mason of Diamond will reappear in court on January 14, 2025, to answer to a charge of theft, and assault of a police officer. The police said in a release that on December 8, 2024, they arrested and charged Kenis Weekes, with the offences of theft, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest.
The release said police investigations revealed that on December 6, 2024, Weekes dishonestly obtained EC$1,000 in cash, the property of a shopkeeper in Diamond; and that during the execution of his arrest, the accused assaulted a police officer acting in the due execution of his duties, and resisted lawful arrest.
The offences were alleged to have been committed at Diamond.
Weekes appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on December 9, 2024 and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was granted composite bail in the sum of
EC$2,000 with one surety.He also was ordered not to have any contact with the complainant, and to report at the Stubbs Police Station every Thursday between 6:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m. The matter was adjourned and transferred to the
Calliaqua Magistrate’s Court for January 14, 2025.
