Petit Bordel man accused of attempting to murder teenager granted bail

A 35-year-old man who is charged with the attempted murder of a 13-year-old, has been granted bail in the sum of $25,000.

Sheldon Hooper, of Petit Bordel, appeared on December 9, 2024, at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before senior magistrate, Tammika Mackenzie, charged that on December 1, 2024, at Petit Bordel, with intent to commit the offence of murder on Shad Hooper of Petit Bordel, he did an act which is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the offence.

The senior magistrate informed Hooper that he was not required to plea to the indictable charge. Corporal 817 Stapleton did not object to Hooper’s bail. Hooper was then granted him bail in the sum of $25,000 with one surety. He was ordered to have no contact with the teenager, and was also given reporting conditions.

Stop notices were ordered placed at all ports of entry and exit, and the accused is to surrender all travel documents. Hooper is also required to request permission from the court to leave the state. The matter is adjourned to January 9, 2025 to be heard at the Serious Offences Court.
