No date as yet for 2025 Estimates and Budget presentations
Parliament is soon to be prorogued to make way for the start of a new session and presentation of the 2025 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, to be followed by the National Budget.
Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves, spoke about this at a meeting of the House of Assembly on Thursday, November 28, 2024, but said a date for the prorogation of Parliament had not yet been set, but added that he will soon make submissions to the Governor General for its prorogation.
“I am not sure yet what is that date, and I am not sure as yet as to the date for the Estimates debate.”
Within recent times, the current administration has sought to have the Estimates presented before the Christmas season picks up pace, and the Appropriations Bill presented after the Christmas festivities.
The prime minister said it was “unlikely” that the 2025 Appropriation Bill will be presented this month, and he asked that the House be adjourned sine die (no date given for next meeting).
