Income support payments to victims of Hurricane Beryl begin
The Ministry of National Mobilization has begun to roll out income support payment to vulnerable persons in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), who were affected during the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 1, 2024.
Speaking on NBC radio on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves, said the ministry has started to distribute BOSVG cards to heads of households, and in excess of 4000 persons will receive income support. These include farmers, fishers and persons in the tourism industry.
Gonsalves said as at November 29, 2024, some 3,214 cards were verified and ready for distribution.
Distribution of these cards was done in the Northern and Southern Grenadines this week, with the payout of $1.5 million to affected persons.
The Ministry of National Mobilization has also announced that distribution of bank cards on the mainland will take place today, Friday, December 6, 2024 from 9:00 a.m at Victoria Park, Kingstown.
