13 Vincentians are top Regional performers in CAPE
Thirteen students from the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College were placed on the 2024 Merit List of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) for their outstanding performances in the regional examinations.
These students excelled in Computer Science, Digital Media, Green Engineering, Integrated Mathematics and Physics.
Hailee Williams copped 5th place in the region’s Digital Media Unit 1 exams, while David James tied with Jamaica’s Abigail Pinnock and Trinidad and Tobago’s Abbigail Brooks to rank ninth. All four students attained grade ones with A profiles across the board.
Ajani Dyer topped the region alongside St Lucia’s Giddel Nicholas in the Green Engineering Unit 1 examinations, while Kendi Alexander placed third in the subject area. All students also obtained grade ones and As across the board.
Recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award, Kerise Cozier, placed fifth in the region’s Integrated Mathematics Examinations with a grade one. Cozier, who passed eight subject areas in CAPE, was also one of the first students in the history of the Bequia Anglican Primary school to achieve a perfect score of 100 per cent in Mathematics.
Chenise Harper and Halei Douglas placed third and fifth respectively in the region’s Computer Science Unit 2 examinations and obtained a grade one in the subject area.
Harper was crowned valedictorian in the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies (DASGS) CAPE, at the SVGCC. She also received the Divisional Award for Excellence and was presented with subject awards in Digital Media, Pure Mathematics and Physics.
Douglas, who also placed third in the region’s Physics Unit 2 examinations is the only student from SVG to cop a top 10 position in two different subject areas this year. Douglas was another recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award, and was honoured as a national scholar.
Gabriel Lavine, Kyra Baisden, Zariah Jack, and Vonique Mills captured first, third, fourth, and sixth respectively while, Jayden Forde, and Zenise Primus tied for seventh in the Green Engineering Unit 2 examinations.
