Government looking to boost home gardening
With the hope of getting Vincentians more involved in home gardening, the government will be offering support to seven thousand persons in the establishment of home gardens in
St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Speaking on radio on Wednesday,November 20, 2024, Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar said the sum of $1 million will be allocated to this venture.
Home owners are being encouraged to use their backyards or containers to grow vegetables and short crops around their homes.
“Food security is something we have to fight for,” the minister stressed.
He said the government will provide the initial support such as seedlings, trays and other necessities to householders.
Technical assistance will be provided by officials from the Taiwan Agricultural Mission.
