Caribbean Association of Banks marks 50 years with celebratory conference

The Caribbean Association of Banks (CAB) commemorated its 50th anniversary with a celebratory conference at the Wyndham Grand Barbados from October 22- 24, 2024, under the theme “50 Years Strong: Celebrating Our Journey, Building Resilience, Securing Tomorrow”.

A release from 1st National Bank of Saint Lucia, a founding member, said the function drew member banks from across the region.

Since its inception in 1974, the CAB is said to have established itself as an essential pillar in fostering the growth and development of the Caribbean banking and financial sector. Throughout its five decades of operation, the association has worked tirelessly to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its member banks through advocacy, training programs, and networking opportunities, the release also states.

1st National Bank St. Lucia Limited was represented at the meeting by a four member team that included Chairman of its Board of Directors, Nigel Fulgence.

The release also notes that the celebratory conference was an invaluable opportunity for banking leaders, professionals, and institutions to gather and share insights on various pertinent regional challenges. Participants were engaged in robust discussions on topics of climate change, heightened regulatory requirements, digital transformations and banking compliance which delved into anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC).
