Establishment of a National Orchestra and National Choir in the works – PM

St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) may soon have a national choir and a national orchestra.

This was announced on Sunday, October 27, 2024, by Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves during his 45th anniversary of Independence message.

Delivered under the theme, “45 years of togetherness, prosperity, and perseverance” the Prime Minister spoke about several planned initiatives in the speech usually dubbed by many as “Independence goodies”.

In relation to the national orchestra and national choir, he said preliminary steps have already been taken.

“There is so much talent out there we have to bring them together,” Dr. Gonsalves stressed. He spoke as well of the establishment of a semi-professional Football League in partnership with the private sector and Football Federation.

He also announced plans to restructure the Sports Department to ensure optimal functioning in light of the huge expansion of top-quality sports facilities, the vastly improved performances of local sportsmen and women, and the increased roll-out of educational, training, and job opportunities for sportsmen and women.
