PM Gonsalves urges Vincentians to look out for each other

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has pointed out that the Unity Labour Party (ULP) has provided “ stability and progress” for the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines for the past 25 years, since the party formed government in 2001.

“You always get happiness and joy and a certain upliftment from the ULP,” Gonsalves said on NBC radio on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, ahead of Independence anniversary celebrations on Sunday, October 27.

Stating that the government is showing love and care, Gonsalves appealed to Vincentians not to behave like the lawyer, the Levite or the priest, in the Biblical story of the Good Samaritan.

Urging Vincentians to look out for each other, the prime minster indicated, “ We are on a trajectory of further development, lifting St Vincent and the Grenadines higher”.

Gonsalves also spoke of the government having made “tremendous achievements in every area,” for the Vincentian people.

The prime minister, who is also Minister of National Security, called for Vincentians to address the “behavioural issue” affecting some young males in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

“I want them to listen to me and to know that we love them, and that we care about them, and we want them to be on the right path.”

He also wants “ their mothers and fathers and grandmothers and grandfathers,” to talk to the young males of the nation. “They have to come home to themselves, as we have to come home to ourselves,” the prime minister stressed.
