Senior citizens to be pampered by hair and skin care practitioners on Monday
SENIOR CITIZENS who are 70 years and over will receive a day of pampering from Suzanne and Friends, free of cost.
On Monday, October 21 a small team of haircare and skincare industry practitioners referred to as ‘Suzanne and Friends’ will be offering free manicure, pedicure and hair services to male and female senior citizens who are over the age of 70 at the Methodist Church Hall from 10:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m as their way of giving back to the community.
Senior citizens will also be given the opportunity to check their blood pressure and diabetes level. Other persons will be partnering with the team to provide food and snacks for the elders.
The person spearheading the initiative Suzanne Goodluck of Suzanne’s Hair Studio, told SEARCHLIGHT that the purpose of the event is to give back to the nation builders of St Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as those who nurtured and cared for the youths of this country.
“Sometimes they’re not looked after. We just throw them to the side there and nobody bothers with them. Sometimes you see people, they would come in, and actually they’re 70- something, and it’s their first pedicure, it’s their first manicure,” she said.
Goodluck added that senior citizens would turn up to receive the service and meet people they hadn’t seen in years, and the event is normally a good one that is filled with lots of cheer and laughter.
“It’s just taking time out from your daily schedule and we just give back, free of charge…we should take the time out to take care of our senior citizens, appreciate them in whatever way we can.”
Goodluck said that this event is usually one of her happiest days when the senior citizens turn up and tell their stories.
“They usually spread a lot of joy,” she told SEARCHLIGHT. Goodluck offered this gesture to senior citizens annually for some years, but during the Covid-19 outbreak, it had to be shelved. Monday will therefore be a sort of rekindling of the embers.
