Football brawl at Chili Playing Field blamed on parent

A MOTHER was alleged to be the instigator of a fight that spiralled out of control at the Chilli Playing Field on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, where two secondary schools were engaged in a match in the 2024 Schools Football Tournament.

It was the first game for the St Clair Dacon Secondary School (SCDSS), who were taking on the Georgetown Secondary School (GSS) at the Chili Playing Field.

During the game, a mother whose son was on the GSS team is alleged to have begun taunting one of the SCDSS coaches, and both exchanged words.

At the end of the game, the mother proceeded to taunt some of the players from St Clair Dacon Secondary who are said to have responded.

SEARCHLIGHT was told that the woman’s son did not appreciate the response from the SCDSS players, so he proceeded to shove one of them. This erupted into a massive fight on the playing field with spectators and adults said to have joined the brawl.

A teacher from St Clair Dacon Secondary School told SEARCHLIGHT that since the fight, they have not received word from any member of staff, or the Principal of Georgetown Secondary School.They said some students on the team had to seek medical treatment at the Stubbs Polyclinic for headaches and minor injuries.

The St Clair Dacon Secondary was scheduled to play the Georgetown Secondary in a Secondary Schools netball game the following day,Wednesday, October 16, 2024, but withdrew.

They also said that the football brawl incident had been drawn to the attention of the Senior Education Officer for Secondary Schools, Godwin James, and a report was also made at the Georgetown Police Station.
