Trinidadians slapped with more charges

Four Trinidadians who were charged with illegal possession, trafficking and conspiracy to traffic over 100,000 grammes of cannabis, have now been charged for four immigration violations.

Twenty nine year old Damian ‘Tall man’ Baptiste of Tobago, 21 year old Shaqkeim ‘Myng’ Bolah of Trinidad, 23 year old Isaiah ‘Izee’ Phillips of Tobago, and 21 year old Jayrun ‘Fat Boy’ Abraham of Tobago, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Senior Magistrate, Colin John on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 where they pleaded guilty that on October 3, 2024 at Petit Bordel, they entered the state by boat and disembarked without the consent of an immigration officer.

They also admitted to entering St Vincent without a passport; entering the State at a point other than an official port of entry; and knowingly and wilfully allowing themselves to be landed as prohibited immigrants. The Senior Magistrate adjourned these matters to October 15, 2024 for facts and sentencing. Prior to their arraignment on these charges, the men appeared in court on Monday, October 9, 2024, where they were charged that on October 3, 2024 at Petit Bordel they illegally possessed and trafficked 108,960 grammes of cannabis. They also were charged alongside Tevin Matthews of Petit Bordel, with conspiring to traffic the marijuana. The court entered a not guilty plea on the men’s behalf after the Trinidadians pleaded “guilty with an explanation” for the offences. Matthews denied the charge and was granted bail. However, the Trinidadians were remanded in custody. These matters were also adjourned to October 15, 2024.
