Redemption Sharpes woman to be sentenced for assault

Donna Defreitas-Baptiste of Redemption Sharpes, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie yesterday, September, 23 2024 where she pleaded guilty to assault.

Baptiste accepted that on September 6, 2024 at Kingstown she assaulted Klairason Defreitas of Redemption Sharpes, causing actual bodily harm.

The Senior Magistrate adjourned the matter until Thursday, September 26, 2024 for sentencing.

Baptiste informed the court that she lives with her two sons. One is at secondary school and the other attends the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College. Therefore, instead of remanding her in custody until sentencing, the Senior Magistrate granted Baptiste bail in the sum of $1,500 with one surety.
