A 39-year-old farmer of Lowmans Windward, charged with firearm offences, pleaded not guilty when he appeared at the Serious Offences Court on September, 19, 2024. Michael Jackson was charged with the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was granted bail in the sum of EC$20,000.00 with one surety, along with bail conditions.

Jackson is required to report to the Biabou Police Station every Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. In a release, the police said that Jackson was arrested during a routine stop and search on September, 18,2024.

The officers were said to be on patrol in the Lowmans Windward area when Jackson was apprehended as he was walking along the public road.

A search was done and Jackson was alleged to have in his possession, a Glock 9mm pistol along with 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition, concealed in a black one-strap bag.

The police stressed in the release that the possession of illegal weapons poses a grave threat to public safety, and the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said it is sending a clear and direct message: If you are found with an illegal firearm, the full force of the law will be brought against you. There will be no leniency for those who attempt to jeopardize the safety of law-abiding citizens.

The RSVGPF states further that it continues to urge citizens to report any suspicious activities involving firearms or criminal elements. “The support of the general public is essential in maintaining peace and security. Together, we can and will make our streets safer.”
