Man charged with theft, damage to property

A 40-year-old man from Bequia will know his fate on September 25, 2024 when he is sentenced for theft and damage to property.

Harold Hamilton, a labourer of Friendship, Bequia, was arrested and charged on September 8, 2024, for entering the dwelling house of a 38-year-old carpenter of Bequia and stealing a quality of items valued EC$1,668.97. The police said in a release that Hamilton gained entry into the house by forcing open an aluminum door on the northern side of the building. He also was charged with damaging two 32x 80 aluminum doors, valued at EC$2,000 by ripping them with an unknown object.

The offences were committed in Friendship, Bequia on September 5, 2024. Hamilton appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on September 9, 2024 and pleaded guilty to the charges. He was remanded in custody until September 25, 2024 pending sentencing.
