Public servants engage in Legal and Policy framework workshop

Senior public servants across St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) are this week engaging in a workshop on the Legal and Policy Framework being developed to govern the implementation and operation of a digitized public service, currently being spearheaded by the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project (CARDTP).

A release from CARDTP said the week-long workshop began yesterday, August 12, and will run through to August 16, 2024, is being held at the UWI lecture hall. Its being done in collaboration with IOS Partners and Tira Greene Consulting and will see a transfer of knowledge during which representatives from the various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDA’s) will learn about the best practices and make their input to the draft policy and legal framework required to support access to various digital government services.

CARDTP, in April 2023, engaged the consultancy firm of IOS Partners & Tira Greene Consulting to support the development of key cross-cutting enablers to facilitate government digitization, enhanced productivity and citizen-facing digital services through review and improvement of relevant policies and national legislation, as well as develop recommendations on necessary reforms to specifically assist the Government of SVG in reviewing the national policies and legislation within various MDAs for efficient and effective digital transformation of the services of the government.

Participants will also develop recommendations, and support with drafting amendments to existing legislation and policies; developing draft policies and legislation; and develop recommendations and strengthen the capacity of MDAs and other project counterparts to enforce draft legislation and policies.
The primary agenda for the consultation includes among other things:

Key policy, legal and regulatory framework reviews

Maintaining the integrity of the digital eco-system and,

Knowledge sharing on transforming access to services and enhancing the civil registry.
