Father gets 33 years jail time for incest and other sexual offences

Father gets 33 years jail time for incest and other sexual offences

A MAN, who begged his daughter to “please, please please” have sex with him, was sentenced to 33 years, 18 months, and 10 days in prison on nine counts of sexual offences against his primary school-aged daughter.

The prisoner appeared at the High Court where he was sentenced to prison for committing four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13; four counts of incest; and one count of indecent assault against his daughter between June 21, 2017 and May, 11 2022.

The facts are that her father went into the bedroom that the then Grade 3 child, who was between 6 or 7 years old, shared with her sister. He woke her and told her to follow him into his bedroom. He then instructed her to take off her clothes and lie on the bed, to which she complied. The prisoner then undressed himself and lay down on the complainant, who was lying on her back. He had sexual intercourse with her, then told her to get dressed, return to her bedroom, and to keep what happened a secret. The child complied. Sometime after the volcanic eruptions in 2021 while the child was sleeping with her sister, the man woke her and told her to accompany him to his bedroom. He instructed her to remove her clothing and lie on the bed, which she did. He took off his clothes and went on top of his daughter, proceeded to suck her breasts, kissed her, sucked her private member, and had her perform fellatio on him.

Thereafter, whilst lying on her back, the prisoner again had sex with the child.

When he was finished, he told her to get dressed and return to her room, and she obeyed. One morning after Christmas, while watching television in the living room, the prisoner approached the child and asked her if she wanted to have sexual intercourse. She told him no, but he begged her, “please, please, please”.

He promised to give her anything she wanted. As a result, the child followed her father into the bedroom, undressed herself, and the prisoner again had sex with her. On the morning of May, 10, 2022, the prisoner gave his daughter some chores to do. When she was finished, he asked her if she wanted to have sexual intercourse with him and she said yes.

The child then went on the bed in the living room and undressed herself. The man removed his clothes as well, went on top of her, and had sex with his daughter.

Later that morning, the child confided in her best friend and cousin that her father had sexual intercourse with her.

During the lunch hour that day, they both went into their former teacher’s classroom, and the child told the teacher that her father usually has sexual intercourse with her, even up to that morning. The matter was reported to the police. The child was medically examined where it was found that there was the absence of a hymen, and a thin, yellowish discharge indicative of a sexual infection.

The man was later arrested and charged, and has now been sentenced for the sexual offences against his child. After time spent on remand was deducted, the man will serve a remainder of 21 years, 10 months, and 18 days on the first count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under age 13. He was given a two year sentence on the second, third and fourth counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. He will begin this sentence after he has completed the first, as the sentences will run consecutively. The man was then sentenced to 10 years on the first count of incest, and one year each on the three other incest charges. These sentences are also to run consecutively. He was also sentenced to three years in prison for indecent assault and this sentence will run concurrently with the unlawful sexual intercourse sentences.

Therefore, the man will serve a total remainder of 33 years, 10 months, and 18 days in prison. There is a 49 year age disparity between the victim/complainant and the perpetrator.
