6 charged in attempted robbery at GECCU granted $25,000 bail
Five men and one woman who were charged in relation to an attempted burglary at the South Rivers branch of the General Employees Cooperative Credit Union (GECCU) were all granted bail.
Erasto Dasilva, a 26-year old bartender from Canouan; Lemar “Chak” Isaacs, a 22 year old of McKies Hill; Esroy “Pirate” Jeffers, a 28 year old from Buccament; Rakiesha Joseph, a 24 year old from Layou; and Sharome Dopwell, a 21 year old from Paul’s Avenue, appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Friday, July 19, 2024, where multiple charges were laid against them.
The five were charged that on July 16, 2024, at South Rivers they had in their possession an unlicensed firearm; unlicensed ammunition; used a firearm in the commission of a robbery; committed attempted murder and armed robbery; and caused over $3,000 worth of damage to the property of the General Employees Cooperative Credit Union (GECCU) branch in South Rivers. The property damaged includes two metal and glass doors, a deadbolt lock, and a skylight.
However, the five were remanded in custody until July 29, 2024 due to ongoing investigations being conducted in the matter. While the group was on remand, one additional person of Layou, Enrique John was charged and taken to court in connection to these offences.
He was granted bail in the sum of $25,000 with conditions.
When the five returned to court for bail review, they were also granted bail, each in the sum of $25,000, and were ordered to report to the police stations in their respective districts every Wednesday from 8 a.m to 8 p.m.
