A FORMER POLICE OFFICER of the Royal St Vincent And The Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), received special awards at the completion of his training as a King’s Guard in the United Kingdom.
Delwyn Delpesche achieved a milestone last Tuesday, July 19, 2024, that many in the British Armed Forces are not able to boast about. He secured the Best Drill & Turn Out Award as well as the Major Generals Section Award.
In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT, Delpesche said, “It wasn’t easy but it was worth it.”
While reminiscing about his experiences, he disclosed that he served as Officer #343 for 13 years, having embarked on his policing journey in October, 2010 at the Old Montrose Training School where he received the Best Turn Out Award upon graduation.
Delpesche’s career in the RSVGPF saw him working in various units, including the Special Services Unit (SSU); Chateaubelair Police Station; Rosehall Police Station; and the Spring Village Police Station.
“I think my dedication to community policing was evident during my four year tenure in Chateaubelair,” he commented.
The remaining years of his policing career saw Delpesche joining the Special Patrol Unit (SPU) in Ottley Hall.
In September, 2019, Delpesche commenced the basic training course with the Regional Security System (RSS) based in Barbados, graduating in December, 2019, with the Best Rifle Shot award. His training extended to St. Kitts and Nevis and Belize, further honing his skills and expertise.
Delpesche’s commitment and excellence led him to a pivotal decision in September 2023. He resigned from the RSVGPF to pursue new opportunities in the United Kingdom. By December 2023, he had joined the British Armed Forces and completed various phases of training.
Delpesche, who hails from Evesham and grew up in Layou, further disclosed that he aims to be successful in his career and serve as an inspiration to his three children.
