Six in custody after attempted robbery at GECCU

Police say six individuals are in custody following an attempted armed robbery at the South Rivers branch of the GECCU (General Employees Corporate Credit Union Ltd).

The brazen daylight attempt occurred on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 around 3 pm.

Police from the Georgetown station responded and were able to apprehend the suspects with the help of the community. There was an exchange of gunfire between suspects and police.

Of the six held by police, two are women.
