VINLEC waives June bills for Southern Grenadines customers
The St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC), is waiving electricity payments for June bills to its customers in Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island. June bills are due for payment this month, July, a release from the utility company outlines.
“This decision comes in response to the devastation caused by the passage of Hurricane Beryl,” the release states in part.
“VINLEC appreciates the patience and understanding shown by customers as we navigate the recovery process. Regular updates regarding restoration, billing and other pertinent information will be communicated to ensure all customers remain informed,” it further notes. Hurricane Beryl, a Category 4 system, swept over St Vincent and the Grenadines on July, 1, 2024 causing widespread devastation particularly in the southern St Vincent and Grenada Grenadine islands. VINLEC infrastructure on the mainland and in the islands of the Grenadines also was heavily damaged and destroyed.
