Top female performer has eyes set on career in acting
If one looks at the achievements of 11 year old Shaya Alona Altidor, one can safely say she can pursue any career she wants. But the lass, who placed first for girls and sixth overall in the 2024 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) examinations will like to be an actress.
“Working hard and trusting in God,” is what the scholar, who worships at the Dubois Gospel Hall, said helped her succeed at the CPEA. Altidor’s favourite subject is Mathematics and in the exam, the Vermont resident scored 74 out of 75.
“I just love it (mathematics)”, the youngster told SEARCHLIGHT.
The budding musician said leading up to the CPEA, she was engaged in playing the piano and also did several past papers, studied a lot, and had extra lessons.
Altidor expected to place somewhere in the teens for the examinations. She was at home when she received the news that she had, in fact, placed first for girls and is headed for the Girls’ High School. Altidor related being very surprised. Her word of advice to students is to never give up, trust in God and put a lot of time into studying.
She expressed thanks to her parents Alex and Shirlon Altidor, and teachers whom she said provided tremendous assistance in her studies.
