Relatives asked to help with identification of hurricane victims – Police

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), have put out a notice asking the relatives of deceased persons currently at the mortuary in Kingstown to assist in their identification.

In a release, the RSVGPF say they are requesting the cooperation of relatives who are on the mainland to help in the identification of persons who have perished as a result of the passage of Hurricane Beryl which did untold damage, particularly in the Southern Grenadines, on July 1, 2024.

Relatives are being asked to take along at least one piece of identification when they go to the mortuary.

The police have confirmed six persons have died as a result of the hurricane, most of them from Union Island.

The release says as well that the identification will help expedite the post-mortem examinations and ensure that all necessary procedures are completed in a timely and respectful manner. The RSVGPF say they understand that this is a difficult time for families, and they appreciate their cooperation and understanding as they work to handle these matters with the utmost care and professionalism.
