Divine Hackshaw is Primary Schools Junior Calypso Monarch
Divine Hackshaw solidified her name as one of the most promising calypso artists in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), after she was crowned this year’s Junior Calypso monarch. She placed second in last year’s competition while representing her school, the Argyle Roman Catholic School.
Following Hackshaw in second place was Ameliah Jones, representing the Windsor Primary School, who did her number ‘Praedial Larceny’; while last year’s winner Divine Walters had to settle for third place after performing her song ‘Life must go on’.
Other competitors were Lylanie ‘Singing Lily’ Bascombe, who represented the Greiggs Primary School; Shellisia Henderson from the Richland Park Government School, singing ‘Fight for me’; Kristell Warren from the Calder Government School who did ‘Youths on the rise’; Shemonique Roberts of the Tourama Government School with ‘Get on board’; and Amena Luca from the Dorsethire Hill Government School who did ‘Down with crime’.
