Two confirmed deaths in SVG by Beryl – Police

Hurricane Beryl, the Category 4 storm that upended hundreds of lives in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), also claimed the lives of at least two individuals. The police have confirmed two deaths from the storm which passed over SVG on Monday, July 1, 2024.

Confirmed dead are James Hazell of Bequia, and 49-year-old Philbert Bowens of Union Island.

Reports are that Bowens was in his home in Union Island when his roof blew off and he was struck in the chest by debris. He died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

It is not sure how Hazell died.

Reports of a third death were not confirmed up to press time.
