Boyea not on board with events stakeholders
A number of private promoters have decided to go ahead with their events during Vincymas 2024 and use the occasion to also mobilise supplies to assist in the recovery from the effects of Hurricane Beryl.
The “key event stakeholders” released a statement on their decision in which they indicated they will have a booth for the collection of supplies towards the relief effort.
Managing Director of Hot 97.1, Luke Boyea, a prominent private events host, said he has opted not to be part of that decision.
He explained on his radio station on Thursday morning, July 4, 2024, that he was informed of the meeting after the decision had been made. He added that while he does not oppose promoters proceeding with their plans, he is concerned that others may exploit the concept of hosting events to assist in the recovery from the impact of Category 4 Hurricane Beryl.
On Wednesday July 3, 2024, updates were shared on the station’s Facebook page notifying patrons about the cancellation of their events. H2O, and Pumpin are events that Boyea had scheduled to put on during Vincymas 2024.
