Sugar Mill Academy takes top two spots in 2024 CPEA Results
Students of the privately run Sugar Mill Academy took the top two positions in the 2024 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) in preliminary results released today, Friday June 21, 2024, by the Ministry of Education. The school’s Ethan Kent and Darius Humphrey placed first and second respectively, and Evan Scott of the St Mary’s Roman Catholic School placed third. The preliminary results of the top 10 performers showed that students of the St Mary’s RC School took six of those positions in the exams which were written just over a month ago. Rounding out the top 10 places are students from the privately run Windsor Primary School and the Questelles Government School. Two students of the St Mary’s RC School took the sixth position, while one student of the St Mary’s RC and the Windsor Primary School tied for the 10th position. There are eight male students among the top 10 performers. A total of 1,745 students, 873 boys and 872 girls, wrote the CPEA on May 15 and 16, 2024. Subjects written were Language Arts, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies which accounted for 60% of the overall marks. The school-based assessment accounted for the other 40%.
