NDP Leader promises to fix roads as a priority once elected
The New Democratic Party (NDP) is promising to begin fixing the roads in St Vincent and the Grenadines as a priority, if it is elected into office in the next general elections due in 2025.
This was promised by leader of the party, Dr Godwin Friday at a recent community meeting.
“I give you my assurance that during the first term of an NDP government, we will get in the process of fixing the roads in this community,” Dr Friday said last Saturday night July 8, 2024, at a political meeting.
That night, the NDP held a joint village meeting for the constituencies of East St George and South Windward in Diamond.
The Opposition Leader lamented the condition of roads in general, and those in Diamond in particular.
He claimed that people in the area feel neglected because of the bad roads.
Unlike some other parts of the country, Dr Friday said Diamond is generally flat, so the roads are not hard to fix.
“Government simply don’t give a damn about the community here,” Dr Friday declared. Encouraging those in attendance to vote for the NDP, he promised that fixing the roads in Diamond will be one of their priorities.
“This community came about during the NDP government, and we will make sure that you get the basic amenities that are necessary to enjoy life in these communities here.”
The meeting was held as part of the NDP‘s support for it’s East St George candidate, Laverne Velox, and South Windward candidate, Andrew John.
Dr Friday said the NDP is putting forward the best team to unseat the ruling Unity Labour Party in the upcoming elections.
“My job, my obsession is to ensure that the people in this country are better off, under an NDP government.
“That life begins to get better, the day after and NDP government is elected.”
The NDP leader said his party is putting together it’s team of candidates and will soon begin to launch them.
