Edinboro man remanded in stabbing death of another man

A resident of Edinboro who allegedly caused the death of another man by stabbing him in the chest, has been remanded into custody.

Michael Simmons appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Senior Magistrate, Colin John yesterday June 3, 2024, for arraignment where the charge was read to him. The charge put to Simmons is that on May 22, 2024, at North River Road, with malice aforethought, he caused the death of Lenny John of Paul’s Avenue.

Senior Magistrate John informed Simmons that the charge was laid indictably so he was not required to plea. The matter is adjourned to August 13, 2024 for the start of the preliminary inquiry.

Preliminary reports are that John was admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital(MCMH) on the date in question following an altercation in which he sustained a stab wound to the chest. Despite medical intervention by a team of doctors, John is said to have died as a result of the severity of his injury.
