WPP hosts Paediatric Pulmonology Clinic
World Paediatric Project has piloted a new team-a Paediatric Pulmonology clinic that recently concluded a visit to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
The new diagnostic team that specializes in identifying and treating children with chronic lung and respiratory conditions and concerns such as chronic asthma, pneumonia, and bronchitis held clinics in SVG from March 10-12, a WPP release states.
Operating from the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), the team saw a total of 103 children, one being born just a few days prior to the clinic being held. This two-man team comprised Dr. Michael Schecter, who was the lead physician, and Sasha Gay-Overstreet, the Registered Nurse. They were assisted throughout the clinic by local Paediatric Physician, Dr. Joy Walters, and Paediatric General Surgeon, Dr. Jasmine Davy-Ellis.
Of the children who were seen, a few were from neighbouring states. Four were from St. Lucia, and one from Barbados. The team not only assessed the children, but also shared valuable information with the parents and guardians that they can apply within their daily routines.
