Labourer charged with aggravated robbery and illegal firearm possession

Roderick Alexander, a 35 year old labourer of Lowmans Hill, was on Wednesday March 20, 2024, charged with aggravated robbery and the illegal possession of a firearm without a licence issued under the Firearms Act.

Alexander is accused of using a firearm to rob a 37-year-old resident of Questelles on Sunday February 25, 2024, about 10:30 p.m. in Campden Park.

The defendant was arraigned at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday March, 21, 2024. He was not required to plea to the indictable charge of aggravated robbery, but pled not guilty to the firearm charge and was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 with one surety.

Alexander was ordered as well to report at the Questelles Police Station every Monday between 8:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m., and stop notices were ordered placed at ports of entry and exit. The court also ordered that the defendant surrenders all travel documents and to have no contact with the virtual complainant.

The matter was adjourned and transferred to Serious Offences Court for trial on August 12, 2024.
