PM shares expectations from visits to the UK and Uganda

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves is hoping for tangible results from his recent overseas visit which took him to the UK and also to Uganda in East Africa.

The Prime Minister returned to the State last Saturday, and spoke briefly about his trip on NBC radio on Wednesday.

He said he is looking forward to tangible results in education and also in higher education.

In Uganda, the prime minister attended the January, 21-22 Third South Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement and G 77 plus China under the theme: Leaving No One Behind; A Pact For The Future.

While in Uganda, Dr Gonsalves said he also held fruitful discussions with the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni and visited the Makerere University where he had spent time as a doctoral student.

On his arrival at the university, Dr Gonsalves said the choir sang the National Anthem of St Vincent and the Grenadines to welcome him and “It was beautifully done”.

He said members of the choir are desirous as coming to St Vincent and the Grenadines as exchange students.

His discussions with the Uganda President, touched on African/Caribbean relations and other matters, he added.

While in the UK, Dr Gonsalves said he met with the Minister of the Americas and discussed matters relating to the Caribbean and the United Kingdom, as well as the Guyana/Venezuela situation.
