Cops probing incidents of wounding with intent and attempted robbery

The Major Crime Unit (MCU) of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has launched an investigation into reports of wounding with intent, and attempted robbery. A release from the police said the offences were allegedly committed on Sunday January, 21, 2024 in Arnos Vale, at the southern end of the tarmac at the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport.

The police said according to investigations, at about 4:30 a.m., a 40 year-old unemployed male of Fair Hall and a 20 year-old female cashier of Villa/Fountain Road were on the tarmac when a masked man with a gun accosted them and demanded money. The female ran away from the scene of the incident and the male was able to escape in his car which was parked nearby. While the male victim was driving away, the assailant fired gunshots in his direction. One of the bullets struck him on the right side of his face.

The police said they were alerted and officers from the Narcotics Unit based in Arnos Vale responded, secured the area, and transported the victim to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) for medical treatment. The police are asking anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department/Major Crimes Unit at 1-784-457-1211.
