Residents to weigh in on future of Park Hill community centre
Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has disclosed plans to have a meeting with residents of Park Hill to discuss the future use of the present Park Hill Community Centre after a new facility is built.
The prime minister spoke briefly about the plans on NBC radio on Wednesday.
“What I have to decide with the community of Park Hill is what do we do with the old community centre when we finish the $3 million project.”
At present, the government is in the process of acquiring lands at Valley Road in Park Hill for the construction of a multi purpose facility, which will also house the community centre.
Dr Gonsalves said the facility, which will be close to the Park Hill Playing field, will also have a meeting hall for theatrical performances, a library, computer rooms, a media arts centre and a gym.
He said on completion of this building he will “have to sit down with the people in Park Hill, in a village meeting, to find out what they think we should do with it.”
Dr Gonsalves, who is the Parliamentary Representative for the North Central Windward Constituency which includes Park Hill, also spoke of plans to repair the existing community centre and the Park Hill clinic which is nearby.
Both the clinic and community centre are landmarks in the densely populated village of Park Hill.
