Man shot minutes before start of New Year

As people were preparing to ring in the New Year, a gunman had different plans and as a result, Old Montrose resident, Kenroy Peters lost his life in a hail of bullets.

Reports are that the construction worker who also goes by the aliases “E” and “E Dog” was shot sometime around 11.45 p.m., on Sunday December 31, 2023, pushing the homicide rate to a record 55.

Peters died in the public road after being shot in his head and upper torso multiple times. One report said he was summoned from his home, while another report said he was walking to his home at the time he was killed.

One resident described Peters as a friendly person who would normally make comedic comments and hang out on the block in the Old Montrose/Block 2000 area.

Another resident said he thought the fireworks had started early and he has no idea why someone would want to kill Peters.

Investigators from the Major Crime Unit (MCU), of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) are investigating the death of the 31-year-old.

The killing of the Old Montrose’s man followed on the heels of the Saturday December 23, 2023, shooting of Symcy “Bart” Williams (53rd homicide), and Dwayne “Dulis” Banfield (54th homicide), a 34-year-old man who was shot on Thursday December 21, 2023 in Rose Place/Nine Steps, later dying at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

Allan Lewis, who was in the company of Banfield was also shot but survived.
