Video showing gang rape of minor not SVG- ACP Bailey

Police have said, with a level of certainty, that a recent video circulated on social showing a preteen female being gang raped did not occur in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

On December 29, 2023, the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said that an investigation was being launched into the video where a young girl is seen being sexually violated by up to three young males.

At a press conference on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Trevor ‘Buju’ Bailey told reporters that the investigation found that the video most likely occurred in another country.

We launched an investigation into the video recording to ascertain whether or not that offense took place on our soil, whether it originated in St Vincent and the Grenadines …”

ACP Bailey said similar investigations were launched in other Caribbean territories as well.

“We have not been able to confirm that that video occurred in St Vincent and the Grenadines. In fact I know that several Caribbean territories launched investigations to ascertain whether or not it occurred on their shores as well. I believe that with some certainty, an arrest was made on foreign soil in respect to that video. It is not a Vincentian video. It was not an offense that was committed on our soil.”

Police have warned members of the public that it is a prosecutable offense to share videos of this nature on social media.
