Lottery donates to Christmas Carolling Contest

The National Lotteries Authority (NLA) of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) has made a significant financial contribution to the hosting of the Police Christmas Carolling Contest.

On Wednesday December 6, the General Manager of the NLA, Mc Gregor Sealey handed over a cheque for $5000 to the coordinator of the contest, Superintendent of Police, Junior Simmons, at the NLA’s corporate headquarters in Paul’s Avenue.

During the handover ceremony, Sealey said “The NLA was established mainly to support the development of sports and culture in St Vincent and the Grenadines. While the organization has assisted the country in numerous other ways, we have not deviated from our core responsibility. To this end, the NLA is very pleased to support culture among the ranks of the police force. We wish the police force a successful carolling this year.”

Coordinator of the Police Christmas Carolling Contest, Superintendent Simmons thanked Sealey and the NLA for their financial contribution. He said that there was a shortfall in the carolling budget for 2023 and the NLA’s contribution has significantly improved it. “The NLA is a very consequential institution in St Vincent and the Grenadines. It has and continues to improve the lives of Vincentians in a meaningful way”, said Superintendent Simmons.

The money would be used as cash prizes for the choirs participating in the Annual Police Christmas Carolling Contest, slated for Friday, December 15, at Central Police Station, commencing at 7:00 pm.

Constable Kora Bobb of the Public Relations and Complaints Office was also present during the handover of the cheque.
