Brighton man pleads guilty to 2019 murder
A Brighton man will be sentenced in January, after he pleaded guilty to shooting a man to death.
Kishorn Sayers, who was 26 years old at the time of the offence, appeared at High Court #1 before Justice Brian Cottle on Wednesday, to answer a charge that he caused the death of O’Donald Sylvan Nanton of Diamond by an unlawful act on August 16, 2019.
Sayers, who is represented by Lawyer Jomo Thomas will return to court on January 17, 2024 for his sentencing.
Nanton, who was 41 at the time of his death, was shot and killed while in his vehicle PK927 at Diamond, at around 5:45 am. The unresponsive man and his vehicle were discovered near Yankee’s Supermarket.
Mother of the deceased Evonnie “Menna” Nanton told SEARCHLIGHT she did not know who may have wanted to kill her son, but added: “them say ah girlfriend thing”.
Director of Public Prosecution’s Sejilla Mc Dowall is representing the Crown in the matter.
At his request defence counsel Thomas will be provided with a social inquiry report and a psychiatric report prior to Sayers’ sentencing next year.
