Arnos Vale Playing Field closed to the public

Cabinet on Wednesday took a decision to close the Arnos Vale Playing Field to the public, in preparation for restorative work to be carried out at the sporting facility.

This information was provided by Deputy Prime Minister, Montgomery Daniel, when he spoke on NBC Radio on Wednesday.

Daniel said work needs to be done to remove unwanted grass from the field, “and to cultivate the grass that you want, for the benefit of the players.”

This is only part of the work which will be done at the sporting facility at Arnos Vale in the next few months.

Minister Daniel said the Arnos Vale complex will be given a “total upgrade “ at the cost of $32 million.

According to the deputy prime minister, this total upgrade includes the installation of flood lights, improvement to the scoreboard and field equipment.

“There are also tremendous construction work to be done on all the stands,” the Minister explained.

During the project, repair work will also done to the road behind the building.

The sporting complex is being renovated ahead of international cricket matches next year.

Cabinet has also appointed a working committee for this project.
