Lightning strikes disrupt communication in Georgetown

Several lightning strikes over the weekend not only scared many people, but also resulted in a major disruption of communication in Georgetown.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that the Internet network in Georgetown was disrupted after a major lightning strike on Saturday night.

When SEARCHLIGHT visited Georgetown on Monday, many persons were still complaining that they had no Internet connection.

This resulted in the postponement of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Georgetown Secondary School. A church service to mark the anniversary celebrations should have been held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Monday October 23.

However, at last minute, the service was postponed to Monday, October 30.

A statement from the school said the postponement was due to “electrical problems in the Georgetown area due to thunder storm activity over the weekend.”
