Vincentian elected as JCI West Indies vice president

President of St Vincent Jaycees Casey De Freitas has been elected to the post of vice president of JCI West Indies, his term to begin in 2024.

His election took place during the JCI West Indies 63rd National Convention from October 10 – 15, 2023 in Antigua. The National Convention saw 205 members of JCI in attendance from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Additionally, the 2023 regional convention saw delegates giving unanimous approval to JCI St Vincent to host the 65th National Convention, scheduled to be held in St Vincent and the Grenadines in 2025.

According to JCI senator Sharlene Wyllie, a past president in 2010, “The St Vincent Jaycees is a non-profit organization for young adults with the aim of empowering youth to create positive change. We have been serving the communities of St Vincent and the Grenadines since 1959 through various projects initiated and executed by the youth of St Vincent and the Grenadines. As a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to acting and creating a positive impact in our communities.”

Representing JCI St Vincent was a delegation of three senators, president Casey De Freitas, vice president Wanika Ashton, treasurer Onate Cottle, and five individual members.

Furthermore, members Kadron Simmons, Kristofa Morgan and Onate Cottle participated in the debating competition, and from dozens of first timers, member Kadron Simmons won the first timers challenge at the national convention. Then at JCI Guyana night, members Shaquille Lewis and Kadron Simmons won free registrations to the 2024 JCI National Convention to be held in Guyana.
