Two College students tie for the Prime Minister’s award for 2023

Two students of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College will receive the Prime Minister’s award for being the most outstanding performers in the 2023 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) or the Associates Degree programme.

Speaking on NBC radio on Wednesday, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves announced that this year, there is a tie for the award.

The two winners are Elzicho Debique and David Dunn.

The Prime Minister said they will each receive a prize of $20,000 and a medal, in addition to a fully funded five-year university scholarship.

DeBique and Dunn are two of the 26 recipients of national scholarships that will be awarded this year.

The National Scholarships, which allow for five years of study at university, each have a maximum value of EC$570,000.

Seven National Exhibitions for three years of study at university will also be awarded.

Twenty-nine bursaries and four Special Awards will also be awarded. A 50-year-old female will be among the bursary recipients this year.

The winners of bursaries will each receive $25,000 per year for a three-year period.

In 2017, three persons tied for the Prime Minister’s award.
