MP gives computers to North Leeward Technical Institute

Member of Parliament (MP) for the North Leeward Constituency Carlos James donated eight desktop computers to the North Leeward Technical Institute (NLTI) during a brief handover ceremony at the NLTI on October 5.

Citing the coming on stream of the Sandals Hotel at Buccament Bay, along with other planned investment in hospitality services along the leeward coast of mainland St Vincent, James said the NLTI will help to prepare young people in North Leeward and neighbouring communities to seize the opportunities that will become available.

James, who holds ministerial responsibility for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, said various hotels have expressed a willingness to partner with the North Leeward Technical Institute as part of efforts to prepare persons for work in the hospitality sector.

Meanwhile, the MP for North Leeward also visited the Chateaubelair Learning Resource Centre on October 5 to examine ongoing work at the site.

Minister James said the Chateaubelair Learning Resource Centre is being retrofitted to accommodate the staff and students of the Fitz Hughes Government School. He explained that the relocation is necessary because significant work has to be done to refurbish the Fitz-Hughes Government School.
