YRN Foundation launched in memory of murdered man

Family members of Dondre’ Recardo “YRN” Hillocks have launched a charitable organisation carrying the moniker of the murdered 24-year-old.

The YRN Foundation was launched last Saturday, September 23 in Kingstown at the National Insurance Services (NIS) car park on the day Dondre’ would have celebrated his 25th birthday.

Monty Hillocks and Latoya Ottley, parents of the slain man said Dondre’ was very much involved in helping the needy and was a philanthropist in his own right before his untimely death.

Speaking at the launch of the YRN Foundation, Zoe Millington said Dondre’ successfully registered his business, YRN Entertainment before he died and he had “big dreams”.

“Apart from having big dreams, Dondre’ had an even bigger heart. As many can attest, he loved helping people in his community and from all walks of life,” Millington said while noting that the YRN Foundation is expected to honour Dondre’’s legacy and continue his work in helping those in need of assistance.

“This foundation will aim to assist persons, children and the elderly just as Dondre’ did when he was on this earth,” Millington said.

The YRN Foundation will be funded by charity drives, events and other programmes and will help needy children with back to school giveaways and other initiatives.

“Dondre’, your passing will not define you. What they did will not be the last thing we will remember, your name will live on. The world will remember your name,” Millington said.

On Wednesday July 19, Hillocks of Belmont and Harbour Club, and four other males, Lamont “Dutchie” Hector, Jamal Bobb, Ricky Taylor, and Kashie Primus were gunned down while liming in the Harbour Club area of Kingstown.
