Miss SVG contestant hosts Dental Awareness Week

Tara Richardson, a contestant in the Miss SVG 2023 pageant this week hosted ‘Dental Awareness Week’ for pupils of the Barrouallie Government School.

Richardson, who is sponsored by JCI St Vincent delivered the programme to pupils in grades one and two under the theme “Smile Bright: Each Child Deserves a Bright Smile”.

According to a release from Richardson’s management team, the programme, which runs from September 4 to 8 seeks to “shed light on the critical role dental health plays in the overall well-being of our young generation”.

“The importance of maintaining a bright and healthy smile cannot be overstated. Dental health is not only about aesthetics; it is a cornerstone of our overall physical and emotional health,”the release said.

The week began on September 4 with an introductory session at the Barrouallie Government School, during which Richardson engaged with pupils, laying the foundation for a week of learning and fun.

Tuesday, September 5 was Arts and Craft day, during which pupils expressed their creativity while learning about dental health through hands-on activities. On Wednesday, pupils met ‘Tootie’, the dental mascot, and enjoyed a movie that combined entertainment with important lessons about oral hygiene. Yesterday, Thursday, the “All Smiles Dental Team” made a special visit to the school, providing pupils with valuable insights into dental care and answering their questions.

The week culminates today with a Kids Fun Day designed to reinforce the importance of maintaining healthy smiles.

“Together, with your help, we’ll empower the students to maintain healthy smiles for a lifetime, nurturing a brighter future for all. Dental awareness is a vital part of overall health,” Richardson said.
